STAFF PROFILES

Mr. Michael D. Cummins PE SE, President and Engineering Manager, has 24 years of experience in the areas of Structural Engineering and Bridge and Highway Projects. Mike manages the daily operations of Cummins Engineering, including business development, marketing, personnel, operations, and performs the engineering responsibilities necessary to complete Highway and Bridge Projects for local Highway Departments and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Mr. Nicholas A. Ketchum, Project Manager & Head of Highway Design, has 35 years of experience in the areas of Design and Construction of Bridges and Highways. Nick is responsible for the preparation of PE 1 studies, all phases of roadway design, special provisions, estimates of time, and cost estimates. His projects have included reconstruction, resurfacing, bridge repairs, drainage improvements, at grade railroad crossings, intersection improvements, segmental block retaining walls, and pavement recycling for numerous Local Agencies and for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Mr. Philip Koeberlein, PE, Project Manager, has 31 years of experience in the areas of Project Development. His experience includes County Engineer for Sangamon and Dewitt Counties, which involved advising Township Road Commissioners on road matters when needed, managing County Highway Department budgets, working with various consultants on future highway and bridge improvements, overseeing the acquisition of right-of-way, as well as general maintenance for the County. Phil is currently responsible for project development - meeting with clients to determine their needs and desires, overseeing the development of plans and specifications for highway and bridge projects, and following up with clients to assure that plans met their expectations.

Mr. Timothy S. Howard, EIT, Project Engineer, has 6 years of experience in Transportation and Structural Engineering. Tim performs hydraulic design to size bridges and culverts utilizing computer models, and develops hydraulic reports and drainage studies. He has experience in structural design engineering and CADD detailing of bridges and culverts. Tim also has performed roadway design and drainage design including storm sewers. He maintains the technology, software and drafting standards of the company.

Mr. Albert A. Niemerg, Project Engineer, has experience in Transportation and Structural Engineering. He participated in summer co-op with Illinois Department of Transportation Districts 6 and 7 where his responsibilities included materials laboratory and testing, drill crew, writing project reports, and ROW acquisition. Albert's responsibilities include structural design engineering and CADD detailing of bridges and culverts.

Ms. Debbie J. Marszalek, CPA, Office Manager, has 16 years of experience in accounting and office management. Debbie manages the daily operations including directing incoming calls, payroll and taxes, entering time and job costs, invoicing clients, accounts payable and the sending of correspondence. Her varied accounting experience gives her great ability to handle the day-to day requirements of our busy engineering staff.
